In a groundbreaking move, the Kogi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pora Films under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to establish the state’s first-ever television station.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, described the moment as “historic,” emphasizing that the initiative would revolutionize the media landscape in Kogi State.

"The signing of this MoU marks the beginning of a new era—one that will establish the first state-owned TV station in our over 33 years of existence. For many years, Kogi remained the only state in Nigeria without its own television station," she stated.

Ayoade credited the achievement to the visionary leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, highlighting his administration’s commitment to bridging gaps in communication, governance, and media accessibility.

The new television station is expected to enhance government transparency, public engagement, and media development in the state. This milestone places Kogi on the map as it joins other Nigerian states with fully functional state-owned broadcast stations.

Further details on the launch timeline and operational framework are expected in the coming months.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
