KREMLIN VOWS TO TARGET UKRAINE MISSILE FACILITIES OVER UK SUPPORT

The Kremlin has threatened to target Ukrainian facilities that could be used to produce long-range SCALP missiles, following Britain’s decision to support Ukraine’s efforts to manufacture the weapons domestically.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Britain was undermining efforts to achieve peace by providing Ukraine with information and support for missile production. He warned that Russia was monitoring the situation and would take measures against facilities involved in the production of the weapons.

The warning came after British Prime Minister Andy Burnham visited Kyiv and pledged continued military support for Ukraine. Britain has also authorised defence company MBDA to share information on UK components used in the Franco-British SCALP missile to help Ukraine develop its own production capability.

France and Britain have supplied SCALP missiles to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. However, Ukraine has yet to begin domestic production of the missiles, while British officials have maintained that continued military support is necessary to strengthen Ukraine’s defence.

The Kremlin’s latest warning adds to tensions between Moscow and Western governments over military assistance to Ukraine. British officials have continued to back Kyiv despite Russia’s threats, as efforts to end the conflict remain ongoing.
