KWANKWASO: I HAVE NO PRICE TAG, MY INTEGRITY IS NOT FOR SALE

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has declared that he cannot be bought or influenced in politics, insisting that his principles and conscience are not for sale.

The former Kano State governor made the assertion while reacting to recent political developments, addressing issues of loyalty, betrayal, and the prevailing political atmosphere in Kano State.

Kwankwaso acknowledged that politics naturally involves both wins and losses but warned that betrayal often provokes public anger, especially at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with insecurity and economic hardship.

According to him, politicians who abandon their principles for personal benefit often end up trapped in political arrangements with no clear exit.

He noted that acts of betrayal have continued to erode the credibility of certain political platforms, contributing to declining public trust, particularly amid poor handling of security and economic challenges.

Rejecting the notion that every politician has a price, Kwankwaso stressed that his integrity remains intact and non-negotiable.

“People often say that everyone in Nigeria has a price. But if you are looking for someone without a price tag, then come to Rabiu Kwankwaso,” he said.

The NNPP leader also described Kano’s political environment as distinct, noting that voters in the state are politically aware and not easily swayed by money or material inducements.

“Kano politics is different. You cannot come with bags of money and assume you can simply buy people during meetings,” he added.

Kwankwaso maintained that if wealth were his primary motivation, he would have openly placed a value on himself, emphasizing that no amount of money could compromise his conscience.

He further cautioned politicians and voters against the lure of short-term inducements during elections, warning that such decisions often result in prolonged hardship.

“You may suffer for four years, receive peanuts on one occasion, and then end up suffering for another four years,” he said.

He concluded by urging political actors to remain guided by principles and focus on the long-term interests of the people, warning that leadership founded on inducement and betrayal cannot deliver sustainable development.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
