The Vice-Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has condoled with former Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Baba Tela, over the death of his two children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a fatal road crash.

Kwankwaso conveyed his condolences in a statement posted on his verified X account on Monday.

He described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that had brought profound shock and grief not only to the bereaved family but also to the Katagum Emirate and the entire Bauchi State.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, on the tragic loss of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a fatal road crash,” he wrote.

The former governor said the tragedy had cast “a heavy shadow of sorrow over the Katagum Emirate and the entire Bauchi State.”

He prayed for the bereaved family and expressed sympathy with the Bauchi State Government and the people of the state.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family, the government, and the good people of Bauchi State at this difficult time,” he stated.

Mustapha and Ummi died in a road accident along the Bauchi–Azare Road on Saturday while returning from Azare.

Following the tragedy, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed expressed condolences to Tela, praying for the repose of the deceased and urging the bereaved family to take solace in the will of Allah.

He also sympathised with other victims injured in the crash and prayed for their speedy recovery.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki also mourned the deceased, describing the incident as “painful”, and praying for Allah’s mercy upon them and for the family to be granted the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
