KWARA GOVERNOR’S SPOKESMAN, AJAKAYE, JOINS RACE FOR HOUSE OF REPS SEAT
Rafiu Ajakaye, spokesperson to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.
Ajakaye made his declaration on Monday in a short Yoruba video shared on his social media platforms, where he appealed to All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders for support ahead of the party’s primaries.
His entry into the race comes as political activities intensify across Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several aspirants already engaging in consultations and mobilising support.
Ajakaye, who has served as the governor’s Chief Press Secretary since 2019, said his decision followed wide consultations with party leaders, elders, and stakeholders within and outside the constituency.
He stated that effective representation at the National Assembly would strengthen governance and improve development outcomes at the grassroots level, adding that lawmakers play a key role in driving collaboration with state governments.
According to him, “I shall be contesting in the upcoming APC primary elections as a Member of the House of Representatives for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun.”
He pledged to provide credible and people-focused representation if elected, promising to work with stakeholders to attract development projects and ensure better service delivery to constituents.
Ajakaye also called on APC members and leaders in the constituency to support his ambition, stressing that unity within the party would be key to achieving sustainable growth in the area.
