The Kwara State Government has announced the temporary relocation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp from Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, to the Kwara State Polytechnic campus on Old Jebba Road, Ilorin.

The decision follows recent bandit attacks and insecurity in parts of the state, which have raised concerns among residents and prospective corps members.

Speaking at a press briefing in Ilorin on Thursday, the NYSC Coordinator in Kwara, Mr Joshua Onifade, explained that the move was necessary to allay fears of corps members, particularly first-timers in the state.

“The decision to temporarily relocate the camp is to substantially allay the fears of our prospective corps members. We commend Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his proactive decision and continued prioritization of corps members’ welfare,” Onifade said.

The 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 orientation course is scheduled to begin nationwide on September 24, 2025, with 1,800 corps members expected in Kwara.

Meanwhile, insecurity remains a pressing concern as bandits recently attacked Kakafu village in Patigi LGA, killing a local vigilante commander and reportedly abducting several residents. Locals have urged authorities to intensify security efforts to restore peace in affected areas.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
