Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Ilorin, has achieved a major milestone after the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation to 13 of its academic programmes.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rasheed Jimoh, described the development as a 100% success, noting that all programmes presented during the November 2025 accreditation exercise met the required national standards.

The accredited courses span across key disciplines, including humanities, management, social sciences, and science-related fields such as computer science, cybersecurity, and software engineering.

According to the university, the programmes satisfied the NUC’s benchmarks in curriculum quality, staffing, infrastructure, and governance, reflecting the institution’s commitment to delivering quality education despite being less than three years old.

The accreditation also clears the way for graduates to fully participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme without any restrictions.

Beyond programme approval, the university recently underwent an institutional accreditation review as it works towards upgrading from a provisional to a full operational licence, with officials reporting positive feedback from evaluators.

Jimoh highlighted that early preparation and strict adherence to regulatory standards played a key role in the success, positioning the university ahead of many institutions licensed around the same time.

He reaffirmed the school’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, adding that efforts are ongoing to expand programmes and build global partnerships.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
