LA LIGA CHIEF FACES PROBE OVER REAL MADRID REMARKS

La Liga president Javier Tebas is facing disciplinary scrutiny after Spanish sports authorities referred his comments about Real Madrid to the country’s sports tribunal.

Spain’s Higher Sports Council, known as the CSD, referred the matter to the Administrative Sports Tribunal on Thursday, October 22. The move follows Tebas’s comparison of Real Madrid’s communications and club television coverage with Nazi propaganda.

The referral asks the tribunal to examine his remarks. It does not amount to a finding of misconduct or an announced punishment.

Real Madrid had demanded Tebas’s immediate resignation after the comments, arguing that his conduct was incompatible with the neutrality and respect expected of a league president.

Tebas defended his position, accusing the club of intimidation and arguing that his role required him to respond to attacks on the competition.

The exchange has intensified a long-running dispute between Real Madrid and the La Liga chief over the administration and direction of Spanish football.

The case now places the focus on whether Tebas’s remarks breached the standards governing his position. Any disciplinary action will depend on the tribunal’s assessment and the procedures that follow.
