President of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, has promised to sanction the biggest transfer fee in the club’s history if he is re-elected as club president, hinting at a major summer signing as part of a renewed “Galácticos” project.

According to BBC Sport, Pérez made the statement ahead of the club’s presidential election on Sunday, saying Real Madrid is preparing a major bid for a top player from a leading European club.

“On Tuesday or so, I’m going to make an offer to a major Champions League club for a great player. It would be the largest transfer fee Real Madrid has ever paid,” he said.

He added that the target is an attacking player but declined to reveal the identity, while dismissing several names linked with the club in recent speculation.

“It’s not Olise. It’s not Doku either,” Pérez said, also ruling out Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

He further suggested the player is not currently playing in the Premier League, adding that the deal could be worth around €150 million.

“We’re going to make a significant offer… It’s a signing meant to generate excitement,” he said.

The announcement comes as Real Madrid prepare for a presidential election involving nearly 100,000 club members, with Pérez seeking another term amid pressure following back-to-back trophyless seasons and a strong challenge from rivals Barcelona.

The outcome of the vote will determine whether Pérez continues his long-standing leadership or is replaced by challenger Enrique Riquelme.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
