LAGOS DISBURSES N1.08BN PENSION BENEFITS TO 648 RETIREES

The Lagos State Government has disbursed N1.08 billion in pension benefits to 648 retirees as part of its commitment to the welfare of former civil servants.

The payment, which covers various categories of retirees, was made to ensure timely settlement of entitlements and improve the quality of life for pensioners. State officials described the disbursement as a demonstration of the government’s dedication to honouring its obligations and supporting the well-being of retired workers.

The Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions commended the retirees for their years of service to the state and assured them of continued efforts to improve the pension system. He also urged retirees to utilise the funds responsibly for their health and family needs.

Pensioners expressed gratitude for the timely payment, noting that it would help ease some of their financial challenges. They called for sustained government support and regular review of pension schemes to reflect current economic realities.
