Police operatives from the Nigeria Police Special Fraud Unit (NPSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos, have arrested a driver, Adegboye Moshood, for allegedly stealing ₦10 million in cash and valuables from his employer, Abbey Anibaba, before going into hiding.

According to reports, the incident happened in May 2025, shortly after Anibaba travelled abroad, leaving Moshood in charge of his residence. On his return, the employer discovered that both Moshood and several personal belongings—including wristwatches, gold chains, and other valuables—were missing. Attempts to reach the driver failed, leading Anibaba to file a police report.

Detectives later tracked Moshood to a hideout in Lagos, where he was arrested and arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court.

During the hearing, Police Prosecutor Reuben Solomon told the court that Moshood betrayed the trust placed in him by his employer when he fled with the items. He added that the act contravened Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Moshood, however, pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Anayo Agbo, requested bail on liberal terms, noting that his client is married with children and would not abscond if granted bail.

Magistrate K.K. Awoyinka granted bail for ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum, but ordered that Moshood be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility until the bail conditions are met. The case has been adjourned for further hearing.
