Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged youths in the state to take full advantage of the ongoing recruitment for the Nigerian Army. The recruitment process, which is for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake, is open for both Trades and Non-Tradesmen/Women, with the deadline for registration set for Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s message was conveyed through a statement from Olumuyiwa Ojelabi, issued on Tuesday by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government. The governor’s call was delivered by Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the Secretary to the State Government, during a stakeholder meeting held at the palace of the Olofin of Isheri Olofin. The engagement brought together parents, youths, community leaders, religious figures, and artisans to raise awareness about the recruitment.

The governor encouraged qualified young men and women in Lagos to actively participate in the recruitment process. Salu-Hundeyin, speaking on behalf of the governor, emphasized that it's time to change the perception of military careers.

“Today’s military offers numerous opportunities beyond traditional combat roles, with technology, education, and career growth now central to service life,” Salu-Hundeyin explained.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also stressed that joining the Army provides not only an opportunity to serve the nation but also the chance to pursue professional training in areas like law, medicine, and aeronautics. He reiterated the state's support for qualified Lagos candidates looking to build a career in the Nigerian Army.

This recruitment initiative comes as part of the government's broader efforts to empower and engage the youth, offering them a path to professional development in a respected institution. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s appeal encourages Lagosians to take advantage of the various opportunities available within the military.

The registration deadline is May 17, 2025, and Governor Sanwo-Olu urged all eligible candidates to submit their applications before the cutoff.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
