The Lagos State Government has announced that the second phase of rehabilitation works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge, inward Island, will begin on Tuesday, September 3, 2025.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed the development in a statement, assuring motorists that a comprehensive traffic management plan has been put in place to minimise congestion during the repairs.

He explained that lessons learned from the earlier phase of the project led to a thorough review of diversion strategies, ensuring this phase is completed faster and with less disruption.

Traffic Advisory:

Vehicles coming from the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway or Lagos Toll Gate heading toward Oshodi or Victoria Island will generally experience smooth traffic flow.

Around the construction zone, traffic will be diverted into one lane (out of three) about 50 metres before the bridge repair site and returned to normal flow 50 metres after.

Alternative Routes Suggested:

Motorists heading to Oshodi: Use the Ojota Slip Road to connect Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony by Taxi Park) and continue to Oshodi.

Motorists heading to Victoria Island:

Take Ojota Slip Road → Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony by Town Planning Way) → Gbagada → Third Mainland Bridge.

Or continue on Ikorodu Road → Funsho Williams Avenue → Eko Bridge.

Motorists from Ikeja and nearby areas: Connect through Maryland → Ikorodu Road/Funsho Williams Avenue → Eko Bridge → Outer Marina. Alternatively, use Ikorodu Road via Anthony (by Taxi Park) to reach Oshodi directly.

Osiyemi urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officers, maintain lane discipline, and make use of the alternative routes to reduce delays.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
