The Lagos State Government has strengthened its international collaboration with the Kingdom of the Netherlands in a new partnership focused on coastal protection and infrastructure development.

The engagement was marked by the reception of a Dutch delegation led by the Consul General in Lagos, Michael Deelen, as part of preparations for Invest Lagos 3.0, an investment summit designed to attract global capital and technical expertise into the state.

During the visit, Lagos State also received a Coastal Protection Pre-Feasibility Report from CDR International, a Dutch engineering consultancy specialising in coastal, river, and port infrastructure. The report is expected to support long-term planning for climate resilience and sustainable coastal management in the state.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, said Lagos remains committed to positioning itself as Africa’s leading investment hub, noting that the state continues to pursue strategic partnerships to drive innovation and inclusive economic growth.

She explained that Invest Lagos 3.0, scheduled for June 8–9, 2026, will bring together global investors across infrastructure, technology, and sustainability sectors.

The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dayo Bush-Alebiosu, also highlighted the importance of Lagos’ coastal and waterfront assets, saying ongoing projects are already opening new opportunities in tourism, real estate, and urban resilience.

He added that collaboration with international partners such as the Netherlands will help strengthen coastal infrastructure and address environmental challenges linked to rising sea levels and flooding.

The Dutch Consul General, Michael Deelen, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Lagos through technical expertise and financing solutions, particularly in climate resilience and infrastructure development.

He said the partnership reflects a shared goal of promoting sustainable urban growth while tackling coastal risks affecting major cities.

The collaboration forms part of Lagos State’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment, strengthen global partnerships, and drive long-term sustainable development.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
