The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed claims that armed men invaded Ajebo Community, located near Agbowa in the Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, injuring residents and damaging property. An online media platform reported that “gunmen” attacked the area, harmed residents, and forced many to flee their homes. The report also alleged that the attackers blocked roads, fired shots, and attempted to intimidate police officers during rescue efforts.

However, in a statement released on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi described these reports as “mischievous, untrue, and misleading.” The police clarified that the disturbance in Ajebo was not an armed invasion, but rather a clash resulting from a land dispute between two families.

Adebisi noted that joint intervention teams comprising tactical squads, anti-riot personnel, and officers from the Agbowa Division and Area N Command were promptly deployed to restore calm in the community.

Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh has ordered a swift investigation. Preliminary findings confirmed that no firearms were used, no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported among residents, contrary to the online report.

The police have identified the leaders of the two families involved and have summoned them for questioning. They have also been warned to maintain peace, as any further disturbances will lead to strict legal consequences.

CP Jimoh urged the public to refrain from spreading false information and advised media outlets to practice responsible journalism. He assured residents that the Lagos Police Command is committed to ensuring the safety and stability of communities.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
