LAGOS POLICE DETAIN WOMAN FOUND WITH PISTOL ON BADAGRY EXPRESSWAY
A 24-year-old woman, Halimat Jubril, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command after officers allegedly found a fabricated Beretta pistol in her possession along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The arrest occurred during a routine patrol by a Police Tactical Team operating along the ECOWAS corridor in Badagry.
According to police sources, Halimat was stopped for questioning but failed to provide a credible explanation for carrying the weapon.
While she denied involvement in armed robbery, investigators noted that she could not justify why she was traveling with the locally made firearm. The police suspect she may be connected to other individuals who are still at large.
Halimat has been arraigned on charges of conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm—serious offences under Lagos State law that carry stiff penalties upon conviction.
The case is currently before the Ogba Magistrate Court and has been referred to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice as investigations continue.
