The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office has sealed four properties in Lagos State over the illegal discharge of untreated wastewater into public spaces.

The enforcement exercise targeted two residential buildings at Oritola Street and Temitope Street in Ikotun, as well as a public toilet and a mechanic workshop along Badore Road in Ajah.

The Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, said the Ikotun properties were shut following public complaints, repeated warnings, and confirmed investigations.

According to him, the property owners had been deliberately channeling untreated wastewater through pipes onto roads, creating environmental hazards and public nuisance.

The Ajah locations were also sealed for indiscriminate discharge of wastewater into public drains and surrounding areas.

Wahab warned that the state government would continue its crackdown on environmental violations, stressing that offenders risk sanctions and possible prosecution.

He urged residents and property managers to comply strictly with proper wastewater management practices to avoid penalties.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
