Nigeria and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has been rated as the top-performing player in the Italian Serie A this season, outshining some of the league’s biggest stars.

After 29 rounds of matches, Lookman leads the WhoScored rankings with an impressive rating of 7.37, placing him ahead of Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez, as well as standout players from Juventus, AC Milan, and AS Roma.

Despite making just 23 appearances, Lookman has been remarkably consistent, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists. He also averages 2.1 key passes per game—more than any other player in the league.

Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram, who has scored 13 goals and recorded four assists, trails closely behind Lookman with a rating of 7.29. His teammate Lautaro Martínez shares third place with Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui, the league’s leading scorer with 22 goals, both earning a rating of 7.22.

Inter Milan’s Hakan Çalhanoğlu (7.19) secures the fifth spot, followed by Como’s Nico Paz (7.18), Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni (7.17), AS Roma’s Alexis Saelemaekers (7.11), AC Milan’s Rafael Leão (7.11), and Fiorentina’s Moise Kean (7.09), rounding out the top 10.

Since his move from RB Leipzig to Atalanta in August 2022, Lookman has established himself as one of Serie A’s most consistent performers. He has now made 85 league appearances, tallying 37 goals and 18 assists.

Lookman’s time in Italy has been defined by both individual brilliance and team achievements. Early in his Atalanta career, he finished as a Coppa Italia runner-up, but he later played a pivotal role in the club’s historic UEFA Europa League victory, securing their first-ever European title.

On the international stage, he was instrumental in Nigeria’s journey to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.

His outstanding performances earned him the prestigious CAF African Player of the Year award, making him the sixth Nigerian to receive the honor. Notably, he also became the first player to win the award after switching national allegiance from England to Nigeria.
