Luno, a global cryptocurrency platform founded in Africa, has entered into a partnership with AltSchool Africa, an accredited online learning provider, to offer fully funded cryptocurrency education to 15,000 residents across Nigeria.

The initiative, tagged “Demystifying Crypto for Africans,” is described as the largest crypto education programme on the continent and was announced on Tuesday.

The Chief Executive Officer of Luno Nigeria, Ayotunde Alabi, said the programme comes at a critical time for Africa’s rapidly expanding digital finance landscape. He noted that as cryptocurrency adoption continues to rise, financial literacy must develop alongside it to enable people to engage safely and productively. According to him, the collaboration with AltSchool Africa is aimed at equipping Nigerians with the knowledge needed to participate confidently and sustainably in the digital economy, transforming perceived risks into tangible economic opportunities.

Also speaking, the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of AltSchool Africa, Adewale Yusuf, described the initiative as a strategic investment in financial empowerment. He said the programme would provide participants with practical knowledge and tools to understand and apply cryptocurrency in meaningful ways, adding that it represents a step toward building a digitally literate and economically empowered society.

The beginner-focused course will be delivered in three cohorts of 5,000 learners each. The first cohort is scheduled to begin in March 2026, following an application window from January to February. The second and third cohorts will commence in July and November, respectively. Eligibility is open to Nigerian residents aged 18 and above, who must have or create a Luno account before enrolling.

The curriculum consists of five core modules and is expected to be completed within three to four weeks. Participants will enjoy up to one year of access to learning materials, including video lessons, quizzes, case studies, and hands-on engagement with digital wallets, exchanges, stablecoins, and blockchain research tools such as CoinGecko and Etherscan. Learners who successfully complete the programme will receive a Certificate of Completion from AltSchool Africa.

The programme is being led by Web3 expert Abdulsamad Tiamiyu, who explained that it blends theoretical knowledge with practical experience to help learners confidently use cryptocurrency for everyday financial activities, including savings, remittances, international trading, and entrepreneurship.

With nearly one-third of Nigeria’s population already interacting with digital assets, the initiative aims to address existing knowledge gaps while encouraging safer and more informed participation in the crypto space.

Through structured learning and hands-on guidance, the Luno–AltSchool Africa partnership seeks to promote the development of a responsible, inclusive, and well-informed digital economy in Nigeria.
