MACAULAY CULKIN SAYS ‘HOME ALONE 2’ BEATS THE ORIGINAL — HERE’S WHY

After more than 30 years, Macaulay Culkin has finally settled one of the biggest fan debates: which Home Alone movie is his favourite?

The former child star, who played the iconic Kevin McCallister, revealed his answer during an appearance on the popular YouTube series Hot Ones. Without hesitation, Culkin picked the 1992 sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, over the 1990 original.

His reason? A perfectly cheeky and honest one.

“I got paid more,” Culkin said with a grin. “I think I own five per cent of the net and also 15 per cent of the merchandising. So, if you buy a Talkboy, I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ll take 15 per cent of that, thank you very much. By the way, buy a Talkboy this Christmas.’”

Both Home Alone films are beloved holiday staples, earning huge box office numbers and turning Culkin into one of the most famous child actors in Hollywood history. But beyond the fame and financial perks, the actor says the franchise will always mean a lot to him because of the friendships he made on set — especially with his on-screen mom, Catherine O’Hara.

For Culkin, Home Alone 2 wasn’t just about being “Lost in New York” — it was also a win in the bank and a chapter filled with lasting memories.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
