Global music stars Madonna, Shakira, and BTS are set to headline the first Super Bowl-style half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final, in what organisers describe as a historic shift for the tournament’s entertainment format.

The performance will take place on July 19 in New Jersey, during the final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

According to reports from BBC Sport, the show is expected to last around 11 minutes, though discussions are ongoing that could extend it closer to FIFA’s 15-minute limit.

The development marks the first time the World Cup final will feature a fully structured half-time entertainment show on a scale similar to the Super Bowl, introducing a more American-style sporting spectacle to football’s biggest global stage.

Gianni Infantino described the decision as a landmark moment for world football, saying it reflects the growing global entertainment dimension of the tournament.

“It will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup, befitting the biggest sporting event in the world,” Infantino said.

The lineup brings together three of the world’s most influential music acts. Madonna, Shakira, and BTS are expected to deliver a cross-genre performance combining pop and K-pop appeal for a global audience of billions.

Shakira is also expected to unveil a new official tournament song titled Dai Dai, featuring Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, further blending African sounds into the global football spectacle.

Madonna is reportedly preparing for the release of her 15th studio album, while BTS continue their international return following completion of mandatory military service.

The half-time show will be curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and is tied to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to support global education initiatives for children.

The initiative underscores FIFA’s growing push to merge sport, music, and global philanthropy in what is expected to be one of the most-watched television events in history.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
