MAN ARRAIGNED OVER ALLEGED N1.4M SIENNA BUS SCAM
A man has been arraigned before a court over allegations of defrauding a victim in a N1.4 million Toyota Sienna bus scam, according to court proceedings.
Prosecutors said the accused allegedly obtained the money under false pretence, claiming he could supply a vehicle before disappearing after receiving payment.
The case was brought forward following a complaint from the victim, who reported that the promised vehicle was never delivered despite repeated assurances.
The defendant was arraigned on charges related to fraud and obtaining money under false pretence, offences which are punishable under relevant Nigerian criminal laws.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges as the court ordered that the matter proceed to hearing.
The case is expected to continue as the prosecution presents evidence and witnesses to substantiate the allegations in Nigeria.
The court adjourned proceedings to a later date for further hearing.
