The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man, identified as Wale Ibrahim, for allegedly stabbing 25-year-old Fisayo Ajetumobi to death during a dispute at Litaye Camp in Ondo East Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, in a statement issued in Akure on Wednesday, said the incident occurred on September 13 at about 6:30 p.m. at a construction site along Litaye Camp, near Lake Road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ibrahim had gone to the site to demand N14,000 from one Gabriel Oyeniran, payment for wood previously sold to him. The argument reportedly escalated into a heated confrontation, during which the suspect allegedly brandished a knife.

“In the process, the suspect, Wale Ibrahim, stabbed one Fisayo Ajetumobi, who was present at the scene, leaving him with a fatal chest wound,” Ayanlade explained.

The victim died instantly, while Ibrahim was subdued and arrested at the scene. Police said investigations have been concluded, and the suspect has been charged in court.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, condemned the killing, describing it as a “needless and avoidable tragedy.”

He emphasized that the command would not tolerate acts of violence and urged residents to embrace lawful methods of resolving disputes.

“The police remain dedicated to protecting lives and property across Ondo State. We also call on members of the public to continue providing us with timely and credible information that will help in preventing crime,” the CP stated.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
