A 25-year-old man has died after being beaten during a turbaning ceremony in Yobe State.

The victim, identified as Maina Jano, was attacked at a turbaning event held at Barwa Fulani settlement in Kafetuwa, Karasuwa Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11:50 p.m. on December 26, 2025, while youths were participating in a Shadi competition during the turbaning ceremony of Lamido Alhaji Kunjo.

Jano, who was from Nassara Fulani settlement in Kumaganam, Yusufari Local Government Area, allegedly suffered serious internal injuries after being assaulted by an unidentified man. He was taken to the General Hospital in Kumaganam but later succumbed to his injuries.
