The ongoing DNA controversy involving Nigerian music star Davido and a woman, Ayotomide Labinjoh, has taken a dramatic new turn after a Nigerian man surfaced online claiming to be the biological father of the child at the centre of the dispute.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the man—who described himself as Davido’s lookalike—asserted that he, not the singer, is the father of Anu Adeleke. According to him, the child’s mother mistakenly believed Davido was responsible because of their striking resemblance.

“I am Anu’s real father. I need to confess—it’s not Davido. The baby mama thought it was Davido because we look alike,” he said in the clip.

The video has sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users expressing disbelief, frustration, and humour over the unexpected claim.

Meanwhile, the controversy began after Anu took to Instagram to request a DNA test to establish her paternity. She spoke openly about enduring bullying and emotional distress, claiming classmates mocked her over her assertion that Davido was her father.

Davido, however, denied being Anu’s father, stating that he had conducted five DNA tests, all of which reportedly returned negative results. The singer expressed frustration over the situation and threatened legal action against Anu’s mother, insisting she should be held accountable.

In response, Anu expressed deep distress, accusing the singer of bullying her and threatening her mother. She also alleged that Davido had never met her mother but was publicly making derogatory claims about her, including stating that multiple DNA tests had already been carried out.

Adding her voice to the dispute, Anu’s mother shared screenshots of alleged conversations between Anu and Davido, claiming he had ignored them for years due to assumptions he made about her background. She called on the United States State Department to liaise with Nigerian authorities in Lagos or Abuja to supervise an independent and transparent DNA test.

The singer’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, later addressed the controversy during a press briefing, firmly stating that Anu is not his granddaughter. He provided details of DNA tests he said were previously conducted and dismissed claims linking the child to his family.

He also accused investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo of impersonating the minor online to attack Davido, adding that legal action would be taken over the matter.

Davido subsequently thanked his father via his Instagram story for stepping in to clarify the situation.
