MAN UNITED PLOT SWAP DEAL TO LAND OSIMHEN, COULD OFFER ZIRKZEE IN EXCHANGE
Napoli star Victor Osimhen is still holding out hope for his long-awaited move to the Premier League, and it looks like Manchester United may finally be ready to make a serious move — but not without conditions.
The 26-year-old Nigerian forward recently turned down a jaw-dropping offer from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, who were ready to splash €40 million per year over three seasons. Instead, Osimhen is staying patient, reportedly keen to secure a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs, with his heart still set on England.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen has his eyes firmly on the Premier League, and Manchester United could offer him that dream. However, United aren’t exactly rushing to pay his full €75 million release clause, as demanded by Napoli.
So, what's the plan? A swap deal.
Reports suggest that United are exploring the option of including Joshua Zirkzee — the Dutch striker recently brought into their squad — as part of a player-plus-cash deal to sweeten the package for Napoli.
Zirkzee, who spent a season at Bologna before making his switch to Old Trafford, managed 7 goals in 49 appearances for United in the 2024/25 campaign. While not exactly prolific, his youth and potential could appeal to Napoli as a long-term investment.
The move, however, still hinges on two major factors:
Osimhen's wage demands — which have reportedly scared off other Premier League suitors, including Chelsea, who were close to landing him last year.
Napoli's firm stance — they want the full clause met. No discounts. No negotiation.
That said, Manchester United remain optimistic. The club believes that as the summer drags on and Osimhen grows more eager to leave, they might have the leverage to close a deal — even if it means offering less cash upfront and throwing in Zirkzee to make up the difference.
For now, the transfer saga is heating up, and all eyes are on whether United will finally land the striker they’ve admired for years — or if Osimhen’s Premier League dream will be put on hold once again.
