MAN UTD BACK AMORIM DESPITE SHOCK CUP EXIT TO GRIMSBY TOWN
Manchester United have decided not to sack manager Ruben Amorim, despite the team’s humiliating Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.
United, who are still without a win this season after three matches, were stunned as Grimsby took a two-goal lead into halftime. Late goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire forced a penalty shoot-out, but Amorim’s men eventually crashed out, marking the first time in history the Red Devils have been knocked out of a competition by a fourth-tier club.
The poor start to the season has fueled heavy speculation about Amorim’s future. However, according to BBC Sport, United’s hierarchy is standing by the 40-year-old manager, insisting they want to avoid “short-term decisions” and give him more time to turn things around.
Fans, meanwhile, remain split — some calling for patience and others demanding urgent changes as the club struggles to find momentum early in the campaign.
For now, Amorim stays in charge, but pressure is mounting as United look to get their season back on track.
