MARWA VISITS INJURED NDLEA OFFICERS, VOWS JUSTICE AFTER ABUJA ATTACK
The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), has visited two officers of the agency who are currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, after sustaining injuries during a mob attack in the Federal Capital Territory.
The officers, Ayegh Zachariah and Shehu Ibrahim, were reportedly attacked on May 15, 2026, during a raid on a suspected drug joint in the Dawaki area of Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, Marwa visited the officers on Monday to sympathise with them and assure them of full support from the agency’s management.
He said the NDLEA would ensure the officers receive proper medical care until full recovery, stressing that their welfare remains a top priority.
Marwa also vowed that those responsible for the attack would be identified and prosecuted, describing the incident as a “cowardly attack” on the agency.
He stated that any assault on NDLEA personnel is an attack on the state and would not go unpunished.
The NDLEA chairman commended the injured officers for their bravery and professionalism during the operation, noting that their sacrifices in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking remain invaluable to national security.
As part of support measures, Marwa presented the officers with Letters of Commendation and additional welfare packages to aid their recovery.
He also praised the medical personnel at the National Hospital for their swift response, which helped stabilise the injured officers.
Marwa reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and dismantling criminal drug networks across the country despite rising security challenges.
