The 2024/2025 LaLiga season reached its conclusion on Sunday, culminating in a commanding 3-0 victory for Barcelona over Athletic Club at the historic San Mamés stadium. In what proved to be an emphatic finale to the campaign, Robert Lewandowski showcased his striking prowess by scoring twice, while Dani Olmo sealed the win by converting a late penalty. Despite the impressive display from Barcelona’s forward line, Lewandowski’s goal tally was ultimately insufficient to secure the coveted league top scorer honor.

That distinction was instead awarded to Real Madrid’s prolific French forward, Kylian Mbappe, who capped off an outstanding debut season in Spain by claiming the prestigious Pichichi Trophy. Mbappe’s remarkable consistency and clinical finishing saw him finish the league campaign with 31 goals—four more than Lewandowski’s 27—thus cementing his place among LaLiga’s elite and becoming the 16th Real Madrid player in history to receive this distinguished accolade.

Mbappe’s remarkable scoring achievements extended far beyond domestic competition. Over the course of the entire season, the forward amassed an impressive total of 43 goals across all tournaments, underscoring his pivotal role in Real Madrid’s attacking arsenal. His goal-scoring exploits were recognized beyond Spain’s borders, as he was also awarded the coveted European Golden Boot, given to the highest goal scorer across all top European leagues.

The 2024/2025 season witnessed intense competition among the league’s leading marksmen. Following Mbappe and Lewandowski, Ante Budimir of Osasuna emerged as a significant threat in front of goal, finishing with an impressive 21 goals. Villarreal’s Ayoze Perez was next among the top scorers, registering 19 goals throughout the campaign. Barcelona’s Raphinha also made a valuable contribution with 18 goals, highlighting the club’s offensive depth.

Atletico Madrid’s forward duo, Alexander Sørloth and Julian Alvarez, both notched 17 goals apiece, providing vital attacking options for their side. Athletic Bilbao’s Oihan Sancet also made a notable impact, finishing with 15 goals, while Kike of Alavés and Sevilla’s Dodi Lukebakio completed the top ten scorers with 12 and 11 goals respectively.

As the curtains fall on a thrilling LaLiga season, all eyes now turn towards the forthcoming campaign. Clubs across Spain are already engaged in preparations, seeking to strengthen their squads and build upon their successes in pursuit of domestic and continental glory. With Mbappe setting the benchmark for goal-scoring excellence, the race for the Pichichi Trophy next season promises to be fiercely contested once more.
