MERCY EKE: SINGLE MOTHERHOOD WON’T AFFECT ME, ONLY POOR WOMEN FACE STIGMA

Nigerian reality TV star Mercy Eke has revealed that she wouldn’t mind having children outside of marriage.

During a recent podcast interview, the Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner stated that if she were to become pregnant before tying the knot, she would keep the child, even though it is not something she is actively planning for.

Eke emphasized that being a single mother would not negatively impact her, noting that the stigma associated with single motherhood tends to affect only women who are struggling financially.

“I won’t go out of my way to get pregnant out of wedlock. But if it happens, I would accept it and have my baby. I want three kids; two girls and one boy or three girls. I love female children.

“Even if I don’t get married, I would still have kids. What many people don’t realize is that the stigma of being a single mother mainly applies to women who aren’t doing well.

“Women who are thriving, men are pursuing them for marriage. I could get married tomorrow if I wanted to. But the qualities I want in a man, I haven’t found yet. It’s not like there aren’t suitors—there are plenty. So even if I have a baby, I would still be open to finding the right man,” she said.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
