MICHAEL OWEN QUESTIONS MATHEUS CUNHA’S ATTITUDE AFTER MAN UTD MOVE
Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has expressed concerns over new signing Matheus Cunha’s attitude, despite describing him as a brilliant addition to the squad.
United signed the 26-year-old Brazilian from Wolves this summer, and he made his Premier League debut for the Red Devils in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford last weekend.
While Owen believes Cunha brings quality to Erik ten Hag’s side, he warned that the forward’s fiery behavior could be a problem if not managed properly.
“My only question mark is his attitude,” Owen told AskGamblers.
“He gets sent off a lot, waves his arms around a lot, and you’ve already got someone like that in Bruno Fernandes.”
The ex-England striker went on to highlight Cunha’s past controversies at Wolves, where he was often accused of arguing with referees, clashing with players, and even causing fights after games.
However, Owen suggested that playing at a massive club like Manchester United might help the Brazilian mature.
“Maybe being at a huge club will put some manners on him. You can’t go around grabbing people’s glasses off them after a game, getting sent off, and causing fights,” Owen said.
Cunha, known for his flair and aggressive style of play, now has the chance to prove his doubters wrong as he begins a new chapter in Manchester.
