Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying the Federal Government’s economic reforms are beginning to yield results.

Okpebholo made the appeal on Wednesday during a visit to the Ojuromi of Uromi, HRH Zaiki Anselm Aidenojie II, at the traditional ruler’s palace in Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. He was accompanied by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor attributed the progress recorded by his administration to the support of the Tinubu-led Federal Government, saying he did not want Edo State to remain in opposition when, in his view, the state was benefiting from the government’s policies.

“The man driving that success is Mr. President. That is why I am here to tell you that I do not want Edo to be in opposition to this government because of the progress we are already making,” he said.

Speaking on his administration’s performance, Okpebholo listed road construction, the upgrading of primary healthcare centres, regular payment of salaries and school construction among the ongoing projects in the state.

He said several roads had been completed, while work had commenced on others across different parts of Edo, adding that the projects were expected to ease transportation and improve economic activities.

The governor acknowledged that some projects would take time to deliver results because of the construction involved.

On electricity, Okpebholo said a 100-megawatt power plant was expected to begin operations in Edo South, with another project expected to contribute an additional 16 megawatts.

He said the projects were part of his administration’s efforts to address the state’s electricity challenges.

Earlier, Aidenojie, speaking on behalf of the Esan Enigies, commended the governor for his efforts to accelerate development in Edo State.

The traditional ruler prayed for wisdom and continued success for the governor, whom he described as his son. He also expressed confidence that Okpebholo would complete the anticipated eight years of his administration.
