MOSES SIMON SET FOR MASSIVE PAY RISE AS PARIS FC AGREE DEAL WITH FC NANTES
After five impactful years with FC Nantes, Nigerian international Moses Simon is set to join newly promoted Ligue 1 side Paris FC — and he's about to earn a fortune.
According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Paris FC has reached an agreement with FC Nantes to sign the Super Eagles winger in a transfer deal reportedly worth €7 million (about ₦12.4 billion). The move is a significant one for both player and club, as Paris FC prepares for its debut season in Ligue 1 — their first in 46 years.
Simon, 29, will reportedly earn €300,000 monthly, which is approximately ₦532.8 million in Nigerian currency. That’s nearly double what he currently earns at Nantes and marks one of the most lucrative contracts ever for a Nigerian player in Ligue 1.
From Grass to Glory
Simon’s journey in European football began in 2014 when he moved from Nigeria’s GBS Football Academy to Slovakian club AS Trencin on a free transfer. He was quickly spotted by Belgian side KAA Gent, who paid €600,000 for his signature in 2015.
In 2018, Spanish club Levante splashed €6 million to bring him to La Liga. After limited playing time, he was loaned out to FC Nantes in a deal worth around €3 million, which eventually became a permanent transfer in 2020 — also believed to be in the €6 million range.
A Key Player for Nantes
Since joining Nantes, Simon has become a fan favorite and a consistent performer on the left wing. He played a crucial role in helping the club avoid relegation and was instrumental in their Coupe de France triumph in 2022, as well as another final appearance in 2023.
His pace, creativity, and goal contributions made him a vital part of the Nantes squad, and it's no surprise that Paris FC made him a top transfer target.
Why Paris FC Wants Him
Paris FC’s promotion to Ligue 1 has created an urgent need for experienced top-flight players, and Simon fits the bill perfectly. His Ligue 1 experience, international pedigree, and attacking flair are exactly what the club needs to compete among the big boys.
Initial reports suggested Paris FC had offered €5 million, which Nantes rejected. But with their latest €7 million bid, it appears the Paris club has now succeeded in getting their man.
What's Next?
If the deal goes through, Simon will become one of the highest-paid Nigerian players in Europe and a key figure in Paris FC’s survival and success strategy in Ligue 1.
It’s a major step up — not just in pay, but in expectations.
