MOTHER AND SON KILLED BY ALLEGED DRUNK DRIVER TO BE BURIED IN AKWA IBOM
The community of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, is mourning the tragic loss of Mrs. Justina Sunday Udofia, fondly known as Mma Akara, and her young son, who were killed in a fatal road accident caused by an alleged drunk driver.
The heartbreaking incident, which occurred a few weeks ago at Nung Oku Junction, claimed several lives after a Toyota Corolla veered off the road, ramming into bystanders and roadside traders. Mma Akara, a beloved akara seller known for serving customers late into the night, was among the victims.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as sudden and devastating, leaving many with no chance to escape. Community members and church groups have since expressed their grief and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
The mother and son will be laid to rest on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Ini Local Government Area. Calls for justice and accountability have intensified as residents demand stricter enforcement against drunk driving.
