A four-year-old boy, Abdulmumini Surajo, has been safely rescued after being reportedly kidnapped in Koko Local Government Area, Kebbi State, in a shocking case that allegedly involved his own mother.

The boy went missing on November 26, 2025, prompting concern from his family. Later that day, his father received a call from an unknown female voice demanding a ransom of five million naira (N5,000,000) for the child’s release.

Police detectives quickly traced the call and identified the caller as Maryam Muhammad, 25, a married woman from the same area. She was promptly arrested and reportedly confessed to orchestrating the abduction.

The boy was successfully rescued on November 29, 2025, around 6:08 p.m., in Mahuta, Fakai Local Government Area. Authorities have assured the public that the case is under investigation, and further actions will be taken against the suspect.

This unusual and distressing incident has sparked conversations about parental responsibility and the lengths some individuals may go for financial gain, even involving their own children.

Authorities continue to urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to ensure the safety of children across the state.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
