MTN NIGERIA FLAGS OFF 2025 Y’ELLO CARE CAMPAIGN, PLEDGES DIGITAL INCLUSION FOR UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES
MTN Nigeria on Monday launched the 2025 edition of 21 Days of Y’ello Care, the company’s flagship annual employee volunteerism initiative, reaffirming its commitment to advancing digital inclusion and social impact across Nigeria.
This year’s campaign, themed “Connecting at the Roots – Connecting Communities through Digital Tools,” runs from June 1 to June 21, 2025, and focuses on breaking barriers to digital access in underserved communities. The initiative began on Sunday, June 1, with training sessions held across various locations in Lagos, where MTN staff volunteered their time to teach digital marketing, personal branding, and employability skills.
Grassroots Digital Empowerment
As part of the campaign, MTN Nigeria is rolling out grassroots digital empowerment programmes, including:
Equipping schools and community youth centres with digital devices
Digital literacy workshops for young learners and aspiring entrepreneurs
Deployment of free community Wi-Fi access points
Support for digital entrepreneurship
Establishment of Y’ello Pods—multi-functional digital hubs for learning and financial inclusion
These initiatives aim to tackle the digital divide in rural and low-income areas by providing the tools and training necessary for individuals to thrive in a connected world.
MTN Reaffirms Community Commitment
Speaking at the opening ceremony in Lagos, Karl Toriola, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, emphasized the company’s dedication to using technology as a tool for inclusive growth.
“Y’ello Care matters to us because we’re a digital company operating in an environment where there are so many needs,” said Toriola.
“At MTN Nigeria, we care, and we want to show our direct connection and responsibility to the communities we operate in.”
18 Years of Impact
Now in its 18th year, Y’ello Care is celebrated across all MTN operating countries as a group-wide volunteer initiative that empowers employees—known as “MTNers”—to drive positive social change by sharing their time, skills, and resources.
In 2024, MTN Nigeria demonstrated this commitment by reconstructing a school block at Iwerekun Community High School in Lakowe, an act that greatly enhanced learning conditions for students and teachers.
“Y’ello Care continues to be a powerful way for us to live our purpose—to enable the benefits of a modern connected life for everyone,” said Toriola.
