Nigerian music executive Soso Soberekon has joined in celebrating First Lady Oluremi Tinubu ahead of her 65th birthday by donating ₦100,000 to her charitable cause.

Soberekon announced the donation via his social media page, sharing a screenshot of his debit alert as proof of payment. Alongside the post, he wrote: “Happy birthday to our 1st Lady.”

This year, the First Lady urged well-wishers not to send personal gifts or pay for newspaper adverts in her honor. Instead, she requested that contributions be directed toward a National Library project, which she has championed as part of her commitment to improving education in Nigeria.

While some Nigerians applauded the gesture, others on social media reacted with mixed feelings.

One user commented: “Una no even understand the sarcasm. Soso wey dey dash common person 5 to 10 million in a normal lol una funny.”

Another wrote: “In a country where common man dey suffer? Una too do ooo.”

Others expressed genuine interest, asking for the account details to also make contributions, while a few questioned the transparency of the fundraising.

Despite the chatter, Soberekon’s donation aligns with the First Lady’s birthday wish—to channel goodwill into a project she hopes will benefit students across the nation.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
