National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has called on members of the public to report credible information on alleged incidents of child sexual abuse and misconduct in daycare centres across Nigeria.

In a notice posted Tuesday on its official X handle, the agency stated it is committed to thoroughly investigating concerns raised in recent public discussions and viral social media posts.

“Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible reports,” NAPTIP said.

The agency urged anyone with factual information, evidence, or direct knowledge of the alleged incidents, including individuals personally affected, to contact NAPTIP confidentially.

“We kindly request anyone with factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected by the matters referenced in the viral posts or related experiences to kindly reach out to us confidentially via DM or email us at info@naptip.gov.ng,” the statement read.

The move reflects NAPTIP’s broader mandate to protect children from exploitation and abuse, reinforcing its commitment to address and prevent misconduct in childcare settings.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
