NATIONWIDE PROTEST: TINUBU HOLDS LATE-NIGHT TALKS WITH NLC
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday night held talks with leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting appears aimed at addressing concerns ahead of the union’s planned nationwide protest over rising insecurity. Key government officials present included the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State; Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State; Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State; and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Honourable Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
The labour delegation was led by NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero.
The closed-door discussions took place a day before the NLC’s mass action scheduled for December 17. While no official outcome has been disclosed, sources indicate that talks likely focused on preventing the planned demonstration and seeking solutions to national challenges.
Earlier in the week, the NLC had insisted that there would be “no going back” on the protest, highlighting the urgency of addressing citizens’ grievances.
