NDLEA ARRESTS US-BASED GRANDMA, SOUTH AFRICAN WOMAN WITH LARGE COCAINE, LOUD SHIPMENTS
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has announced the arrest of two women in separate operations involving suspected drug shipments at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The suspects were identified as Anetor Gloria Ubong, a 62-year-old Nigerian-American grandmother, and Qhina Beauty, a 34-year-old South African woman.
In a statement on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said Ubong was arrested with 9.45 kilograms of high-grade cannabis, commonly called “Loud,” allegedly imported from the United States.
Beauty was arrested at the airport’s departure hall on October 7, 2026, while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to South Africa through Doha.
According to Babafemi, officers searched her two travelling bags and recovered 30 blocks of cocaine weighing 36.65 kilograms.
The agency said the cocaine was packed into seven parcels, wrapped in tape and mixed with dried pepper.
Babafemi further alleged that Beauty told investigators she had arrived in Nigeria on September 30 to collect the shipment. She reportedly said another South African woman recruited her and promised her 20,000 rand upon successful delivery.
The NDLEA also reported drug seizures during separate operations in Kano, Lagos, Bauchi, Niger, Edo, Ondo, Taraba, Oyo and Delta states.
The allegations against the two women have not been determined by a court.
