NDLEA UNCOVERS ILLICIT DRUGS CONCEALED IN BICYCLE LUGGAGE CARRIERS

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a new tactic used by drug traffickers after discovering large quantities of illicit drugs hidden inside bicycle luggage carriers.

The NDLEA made the discovery during an intelligence-led operation at a major transportation hub in Lagos. Officials said the drugs were cleverly concealed in specially modified compartments built into the carriers.

According to the agency, the consignment included various banned substances. The suspects involved in the smuggling attempt have been arrested and are currently in NDLEA custody.

The NDLEA described the concealment method as “highly sophisticated,” noting that traffickers are constantly devising new ways to beat security checks. This latest tactic is believed to be aimed at moving drugs across state borders and possibly for export.

The Chairman of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), commended the officers involved in the operation for their vigilance. He warned that the agency will continue to adapt its strategies to counter the evolving methods of drug barons.

This seizure adds to the NDLEA’s recent successes in intercepting drugs hidden in unusual places such as vehicle parts, food items, and household goods.

The agency has appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities around transportation hubs. It also warned that anyone caught trafficking drugs will face the full weight of the law.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the sponsors and intended destinations of the seized drugs.
