Nigerian senator Ali Ndume has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for a fifth term in the Senate, ahead of the next general election in Nigeria.

The development followed the party’s primary process, where Ndume emerged as the flagbearer for his constituency after securing the required support from delegates.

His return ticket positions him for another bid to extend his long-standing presence in the upper chamber of Nigeria’s National Assembly, where he has served multiple terms representing his district.

Party officials said the primary process was conducted in line with internal procedures, as political parties across the country continue preparations for upcoming elections.

Ndume, who has been a prominent figure in Nigerian politics for years, previously held leadership roles in the Senate and has been active in national legislative debates.

The APC is expected to finalise more of its candidates as primaries continue across different states and constituencies in preparation for the general elections.

Further details on the primary contest and other aspirants were not immediately disclosed at the time of reporting.
