NEC XON, a leading African technology solutions provider, has signed a strategic partnership with Mimosa Networks to boost wireless broadband connectivity across the continent.

The collaboration aims to deliver high-performance, cost-effective wireless solutions to underserved and rural communities, as well as enterprises and government institutions that need reliable internet access.

Mimosa Networks is globally known for its innovative fixed wireless access technology, which provides fast and stable internet even in challenging environments. Through this partnership, NEC XON will distribute and deploy Mimosa’s products across key African markets, helping to close the digital divide that still affects millions of people.

The two companies will focus on delivering solutions for last-mile connectivity, smart cities, education, healthcare, and agricultural projects. This is expected to support Africa’s growing demand for reliable broadband as digital services expand in finance, e-learning, telemedicine, and e-commerce.

NEC XON’s Managing Director said the partnership aligns with the company’s mission to provide inclusive digital infrastructure across Africa. He noted that Mimosa’s technology is well-suited for African conditions because it is affordable, easy to deploy, and performs well in both urban and remote areas.

Many African countries continue to struggle with limited fibre infrastructure, especially outside major cities. Wireless solutions like those offered by Mimosa are increasingly seen as a faster and more practical way to connect communities and businesses.

This partnership comes at a time when governments and private organisations are investing heavily in digital transformation. Improved connectivity is expected to create new economic opportunities, particularly for small businesses and young entrepreneurs in rural areas.

The collaboration will begin with deployments in Southern and East Africa, with plans to expand to other regions in the coming months.

For millions of Africans still without reliable internet, this development offers hope for better access to information, services, and opportunities in the digital economy.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
