The Niger State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has produced Dr Mohammed Kpautagi as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Kpautagi emerged as the winner after defeating his opponent, Usman, in a primary election that covered 24 of the state’s 25 local government areas.

The State Returning Officer and Secretary of the ADC Primary Election Committee, Ibrahim Mohammed, announced the results on Tuesday during the official declaration of outcomes for governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly aspirants in Minna.

He said Kpautagi secured a total of 67,924 votes, while his opponent polled 27,769 votes across the state.

Mohammed also declared winners for the three senatorial districts under the ADC platform, including Niger North, Niger East, and Niger South, noting that some candidates emerged unopposed.

Similarly, the party announced winners of various House of Representatives and State Assembly primaries across all 25 local government areas of the state.

He explained that all candidates were confirmed winners after meeting the requirements of the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines for the various positions.

The returning officer added that the successful aspirants would now represent the party in the 2027 general elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
