NIGERIA BELONGS ONLY TO HAUSA AND YORUBA, NOT IGBOS – ISAAC FAYOSE

Businessman Isaac Fayose has stirred controversy with his latest comments on Nigeria’s political landscape.

In a video shared on Instagram, Fayose argued that Nigeria is often described as belonging to the three major tribes—Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo, but in reality, the Igbos have been sidelined from the nation’s top leadership positions since the return of democracy in 1999.

According to him, only the Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba have had the privilege of ruling the country, while Igbos have been systematically excluded.

“They always say Nigeria belongs to Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba. But since 1999, no Igbo man has been allowed to be President or Vice President. They always push them away. If they talk about Biafra, it becomes a bad word. We accept, but how can you say we are one when Igbos have not been given the chance?” Fayose said.

He further pointed to the case of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, who, according to him, was rigged out despite gathering massive support across the country.

Fayose concluded by stressing that the idea of “Wazobia” unity is flawed if one of the three major tribes continues to be excluded from leadership.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
