NIGERIA EXPORTED 281 NON-OIL PRODUCTS IN 2025
Nigeria exported 281 non-oil products to 120 countries in 2025, generating $6.1bn in revenue, the Vice President of the World Trade Centre Abuja, Karim Ahmed, has said.
Ahmed disclosed this at the Premier Export Launchpad Bootcamp organised by the World Trade Centre Abuja, describing the figure as Nigeria’s highest formally documented non-oil export performance.
He said the results showed that Nigerian products were gaining greater access to international markets, but stressed the need to improve the capacity of local businesses to compete sustainably.
According to him, the exports covered sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, the creative economy and professional services.
Data from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council also showed that cocoa and its derivatives were among the leading contributors to the export earnings. Cocoa beans alone generated about $1.99bn, followed by urea at $1.29bn, cashew nuts at $456.9m and sesame seeds at $300.3m.
Ahmed said Nigeria now needed to focus on improving product quality, meeting international standards and strengthening the ability of exporters to sustain their presence in global markets.
He added that greater investment in production, processing, packaging and export logistics would help Nigerian businesses take fuller advantage of international trade opportunities.
The development comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on crude oil by expanding non-oil exports.
