NIGERIA NEEDS ROBUST DIGITAL TAX INFRASTRUCTURE, TAXAIDE WARNS
Taxaide, a leading tax advisory firm, has called for the urgent development of stronger digital infrastructure to enhance tax administration and compliance in Nigeria.
The firm emphasised that outdated systems and limited digital integration continue to hinder efficient revenue collection, encourage evasion, and limit the government’s ability to track economic activities in the informal and digital sectors.
According to Taxaide experts, a modern digital tax framework would enable real-time monitoring, automated filing, and better data analytics, ultimately widening the tax net and reducing leakages. They noted that countries with advanced digital tax systems have recorded significant improvements in compliance and revenue generation.
The advisory highlighted the growing importance of taxing digital transactions, e-commerce, and platform economies as Nigeria’s digital space expands rapidly. Experts urged the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and state boards to accelerate the deployment of integrated platforms and invest in capacity building for tax officials.
Stakeholders believe that stronger digital infrastructure is critical for achieving sustainable revenue growth and supporting national development goals.
Taxaide pledged continued collaboration with government agencies to design practical solutions tailored to Nigeria’s unique economic landscape.
