Nigeria has been ranked 24th out of 153 countries in the 2026 International Boxing Association (IBA) world rankings, according to latest standings.

The country accumulated a total of 12,150 points, placing it ahead of boxing powerhouses such as France and the United States, which are both tied in 25th position with 11,500 points each.

At the top of the rankings, the Uzbekistan boxing team leads with 48,700 points, followed by Russia and Kazakhstan in second and third place, respectively. The Democratic Republic of Congo and Australia complete the top five.

The rankings are based on a two-year rolling points system managed by the International Boxing Association, which awards points based on performances at major competitions, including the World Championships, continental tournaments, and Olympic-related events.

Nigeria’s position reflects steady performances across international and continental boxing competitions within the ranking period.

The IBA system updates standings after each competition cycle, with older results gradually losing weight while recent performances carry more influence.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
