NIGERIA SECURES $155M CLEAN ENERGY INVESTMENTS TO EXPAND POWER ACCESS

Nigeria has secured clean energy deals worth $155 million as part of efforts to increase renewable energy adoption and improve electricity access across the country, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has announced.

The agency said the investments will support the development of clean energy projects aimed at providing reliable power solutions, especially for underserved communities and businesses. The deals are expected to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy technologies and strengthen Nigeria’s transition toward a more sustainable energy system.

According to the REA, the funding will also support initiatives focused on expanding mini-grid solutions, improving energy infrastructure, and reducing dependence on traditional power sources.

Energy stakeholders welcomed the development, noting that increased investment in clean energy is essential to addressing Nigeria’s electricity challenges and supporting economic growth. They said renewable energy projects can help bridge power gaps while creating new opportunities for businesses and communities.

The REA reaffirmed its commitment to working with local and international partners to attract more investment into Nigeria’s renewable energy sector and advance the country’s clean energy goals.
