Air Force spokesman details operational milestones ahead of Chief of Air Staff’s first anniversary, highlighting intelligence-driven precision strikes and close air support across major security theatres
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded over 6,100 flying hours across 2,900 sorties while consuming nearly 10 million litres of Jet A-1 aviation fuel to sustain counter-terrorism and internal security operations between November 2025 and September 2026.
The financial expenditure for the aviation fuel used during the ten months approached ₦18 billion, reflecting the scale of air operations deployed across various operational theatres nationwide.
The figures were disclosed in an official statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, highlighting operational milestones recorded under the leadership of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, ahead of his first anniversary in office.
Air Commodore Ejodame detailed that the executed sorties encompassed precision air strikes, armed reconnaissance, intelligence-gathering surveillance, and close air support for ground troops. The air chief emphasized that all deployments were driven by actionable intelligence and structured mission planning to degrade hostile non-state actors, disrupt operational mobility for violent groups, and enhance the overall effectiveness of joint military operations.
The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining high operational readiness, expanding force modernization initiatives, and improving personnel welfare while maintaining rigorous accountability and strategic resource management in defense of national security.
